DIY Shrinky Dinks

      💜DIY Shrinky Dinks💜

Recently I had an odd hankering to make shrinky dinks. But, I didn't have any of the shrink plastic you need to make them. So I did a little research and found a safe way to make Shrinky Dinks with stuff you most likely already have. Lets get crafting!

Materials:

  • plastic cup, make sure it is #6 plastic
  • Something to draw/write with,I found that permanate markers worked best
  • Scissors
  • Hole punch (optional)

Step 1:

Cut a strip out of your cup (we are going to cut it down later). I found that using the top of the cup works best. If you use the top of the cup it will not crumble up while it is baking when the round part of the cup will.

Step 2:

Draw something on your strip of plastic. If you are using the round part of the cup you will want to try and flatin it out.

Step 3:

Cut your plastic down to the size you want. You can also punch a hole in it if you want to make it in to a key chain or neclace charm.

Step 4:

Bake your shrinky dink for 2-3 minutes at 350 degrees. If you used the round part of the cup you might want to bake them 1 at a time so it will be easier to flatten it out.

Step 5:

After you take your shrinky dink out of the oven, You need to immediately flatten them out. Put some oven mitts on and flatten out the plastic. You need to do it while the plastic is hot that is why you should bake them one at a time.

Step 6 (optional):

Once the plastic is cool,You can add a jump ring to make it into a charm or key chain. You can also add modge podge dimensional magic to seal it.
